Video Storyteller Workshops

Digital Storytelling Flier.pdf

Workshops Presented by Jake Hoyungowa

The digital storyteller workshop is an opportunity for youth to engage, learn, and become a storyteller. By creating a film using a DSLR camera or smart phone camera, we are able to tell our own story through film. These workshops will teach participants how to create a film following four simple steps: story development, pre-production, production, and post-production. We have some interesting events and stories to tell coming up this year at TLE and other farming sites! If you are interested don’t hesitate to call, Facebook, or email us at the TLE office.

Digital Storyteller Overview

February 5, 2019 - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (MST)

We will discuss what digital storytelling means, how to create film, and why telling your story is important. Also, the workshop will briefly discuss future film projects happening at the Sihasin Garden and other sites.

Storyboarding and Scripts

February 6, 2019 - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (MST)

We will focus on the story development of film. This is the planning phase for every film project that involves creating a storyboard and script for any film project. The story board and script writing involves creating a theme, location, conflict, characters and plot.

Food Preparation Demo

This workshop will be the first hands on learning experience in shooting a film at TLE. The food demonstration will teach participants how to film by using the four steps of filmmaking (story development, pre production, production, and post production).

Thermal Composting

February 22, 2019 - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (MST) - POSTPONED

This will be the second film project for participants to refine their filming skills. We will film the process on thermal composting and create a film to share for interested growers, gardeners, and farmers on YouTube.

Lasagna Beds

March 2, 2019 - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (MST)

This will be the third film project for participants to improve filming capabilities. In this workshop, we will demonstrate how to create your own lasagna beds to help your plants grow with healthy soil. The participants will create a film on how to make your own lasagna bed and share for interested growers, gardeners, and farmers.

Seedlings and Making Soil

March 16, 2019 - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (MST)

This will be the fourth film project for participants to film. In this workshop, we will demonstrate how we make our own soil and plant seedlings to start the planting season for this year. The filmmakers will be able to make a short video and share information on growing seedlings and making soil for the planting season!

Sprouting Corn & Early Planting

April 20, 2019 - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (MST)

This will be the next film project for participants to film. In this workshop, we will demonstrate how to germinate your corn seeds to plant your cornfield. The filmmakers will make a short video and share information on how to sprout your corn seeds for planting this summer!

Finalizing Videos & Branding
